C.W. Brabender Finds Purging Compound by Asaclean Shortens Cleaning Time from One-Hour to 10 Minutes

by Miyuki Matsumine on December 23, 2011

Sun Plastech Inc. (Parsippany, NJ), a leading purging compound maker, recently visited C.W. Brabender® in New Jersey and tested its ASACLEAN Purging Compound on C.W. Brabender®’s 3 piece mixer/Measuring head attached to their Intelli-Torque Plasti-Corder® torque rheometer in order to observe its cleaning power.

Several trials were conducted with various nylon and high-temperature nylon resins on the mixer, using ASACLEAN’s high-scrubbing EX and PX Grades.

To purge, a small quantity of ASACLEAN was added to the mixer and the blades were turned at high rpm’s for a few minutes in the forward direction and then in the reverse direction. This process was repeated several times before the mixer was disassembled to finish the cleaning process.  The blades and mixing bowl were thoroughly cleaned, with only slight traces of ASACLEAN remaining, which were easily wiped off with a brush and cloth.

According to C.W. Brabender®: “it’s a difference between 10 minutes to clean using ASACLEAN or up to an hour to clean without it”.

Although this is not a common application for ASACLEAN, it still proved to be effective.
