Asahi Kasei Plastics North America is the exclusive manufacturer & supplier of Asaclean® in North and South America. In April 2023, APNA merged with Asahi Kasei Asaclean Americas to better serve customers.

In 1996, Sun Plastech, Inc. (SPI) began as a small subsidiary of the Japan-based Asahi Kasei Corporation dedicated to helping plastics processors save time and money with Asaclean® Purging Compounds. Our Mechanical Purging Compounds became the top choice of automotive and custom molders, and our superior products and technical support helped continue steady annual growth for the next twenty years.

Since our humble beginnings, SPI quickly grew Asaclean® into the #1 best-selling purging compound in its territory —a distinction we continue to hold after more than fifteen years in the top spot.

In 2015, SPI acquired NOVACHEM, a highly regarded competitor, for their excellent line of Chemical Purging Compounds. This acquisition introduced Asaclean®’s N-Series of Chemical Purges to better serve the extrusion and blow molding markets. The N-Series offers unrivaled performance for extrusion and allowed SPI to better serve the medical, packaging, and industrial markets.

In 2020, Sun Plastech, Inc. changed its name and rebranded as Asahi Kasei Asaclean Americas. 25 years after starting as one of Asahi Kasei Corporation’s first American entities, the name change reflects our close relationship and alignment with our parent company.In 2020, Asahi Kasei Asaclean Americas was named the #1 company to work for in the plastics industry by Plastics News. AKAC has been in Plastics News' Top 10 Best Places to Work for the past nine consecutive years.

In 2023, Asahi Kasei Asaclean Americas officially merged with Asahi Kasei Plastics North America.

Asahi Kasei Plastics North America, or ‘APNA’, is a leading manufacturer of high performance engineered polymers and chemically coupled polypropylene resins. APNA currently has over 400 employees and four locations in North America: Fowlerville, Michigan; Athens, Alabama; Queretaro, Mexico; & Asaclean's headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.
