[Parsippany, NJ] Sun Plastech Inc., the manufacturer of Asaclean® purging compound, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this summer.
Sun Plastech Inc. was established in July 1996 as a fully-owned subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The company began selling to injection molders and extruders of thermoplastic resins in North America. South America was added to its sales territory a few years later.
Sun Plastech originally imported all Asaclean® products from Japan. In the year 2001 Sun Plastech started local manufacturing and produced its first domestic grade. Since then the company has added several more domestically produced products. To better serve its customer base they have also increased their number of warehouses across the United States and Canada.
The company first began with nine employees. Since then it has doubled to keep up with its current growth and expansion. In August 2004, Glenn Kornfeld was promoted to President after the Japanese predecessor returned to Japan. Joseph Serell was appointed as Vice President of the company in August 2007. The company has become the first overseas subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Chemicals that is run by local management. Since 1996, sales have more than quadrupled as the business continues to grow significantly throughout the Americas.

Sun Plastech is planning a celebration in honor of its15th anniversary on July 12th. Invited are Sun Plastech’s customers, partners, suppliers, vendors and colleagues who have all contributed to its success over the years. Joseph Serell, Vice President said, “For 15 years, ASACLEAN has been helping plastics processors stay ahead of their competition. During this time we have enjoyed remarkable growth. We attribute this success to providing the most cost-effective solution to many of today’s most difficult processing problems. We look forward to serving the plastics industry for many years to come.” Today, Asaclean® purging compound is sold in more than 50 countries around the world.
